Elsewhere pt. II

        Made with Canva

Dubai, a city known for its glamorous appeal, also has other sides to it, one of them being the traditional one. The old part of the city, with buildings significantly lacking the height of modern Dubai, takes you through a time tunnel straight to the origins of this glorious city. A fun fact about Dubai is that people first made their money by diving for pearls, a very successful business held until artificial pearls were developed in Japan. Later on, with the discovery of oil, the development phase started taking off and the rest is history.

The at the Arabian Tea House

It is a very pleasant environment, and the older parts of the city offer the opportunity to purchase art, as well as have traditional tea and snacks while enjoying air condition in the heat. The Arabian Tea House, although it fooled us at first, offered an interior garden and lots of tea options, successfully bringing in tourists as well as locals.

Following the street behind it, one approaches the Souk, from water taxis, to scarfs, it is both, a mix of different cultures (80% of the population, after all, is made up of expats), traditions and various food flavors. It is also where the childhood home of the Sheikh can be found.

Older parts of city of Dubai

Burj al Arab at night

Those who know me, are also aware of the fact that I am attracted to light shows like a moth, so what better place to be at, than the Burj al Arab. After spending the first few nights around the Burj Khalifa, it was time to visit the original gem of Dubai. There are numerous bars and restaurants ideal for a romantic night out with your partner and what's more, the perfect setting for an evening stroll.

Refreshing juices and nonalcoholic beverages are everywhere, but for those of you craving fruitful cocktails or a champagne glass to celebrate an important occasion, Sunken Gardens by the Ritz is worth a visit. The bar has to offer also shishas with flavors that will amaze you, and a warm a friendly service to round up your night.

Miracle Garden Dubai

Most people don't agree that this place is worth visiting, but if you ask me it is fun getting lost in a flower bed. The Dubai Miracle Garden is located a bit outside and demands a longer taxi ride, but once you get there it is worth it. From airplanes to gigantic installations  and teddy bears, colorful flowers can be found in all shapes and sizes. The only drawback is the entrance fee, for tastes a bit overpriced. However snacking opportunities within it are numerous and affordable when compared to some other attractions in Dubai. In the case that a taxi is too expensive for you, make sure to buy the rechargeable bus ticket before arriving there, as there are no vendors for the ticket itself in the park, but a recharging exists as an option.

A city full of life and fast lanes, Dubai offers us also a relaxed escape and introduces cultures in a modern light. What the city will hold out for us next we will find out with time, as tourism is increasingly establishing itself as the main income source of this pearl. As for my travel diaries, I can only hope that you enjoy my blabbing and that it will also guide you for your future travel to Dubai!

See you soon, 'cuz this adventure still needs to reach its end...

We have all heard about the sand, the oil and the richness of the culture as well as its people, what many of us have not, is seen the beauty up close and explored it together with our dearest travel partners. Dubai, the mesmerizing city build on sand and oil. A tourist attraction and the Mecca of new grads that want to build up savings was the crowning jewel of my travels so far.

Having the opportunity to spend a week in this modern city proved to be a blessing, with its large never-ending boulevards and countless tourist attractions, it proved itself a true metropolis, one that demands many days of visiting. The original architectural marks, mixed with replicas of famous buildings from all around the world caught my attention instantaneously (my favorite being the Big Ben look-a-like across the street from our hotel).

Getting around the city was quite easy, whether it is the surface metro, with designated coaches ranging from only for women to gold class, or the affordable taxi fares/Ubers, you will always be able to get around and reach different parts of the city fast. My personal tip: avoid taxis during rush hour times, as those tend to cause traffic congestion in certain parts of the city, especially around the mall of the Emirates.

Breakfast with a side of Burj Khalifa...

Numerous tours of the Burj can be booked online! We chose the offer from Get Your Guide, as the price/package ratio fit us best and one could choose between night and morning tours. For us, the sunrise tour enabled us to take pictures of the early morning sun, as well as the beautiful landscape it created when it hit the skyscrapers. Although many skyscrapers have already been built, the boom is not seizing. Many developments are being built currently and the remaining flat pieces of land are being transformed into luxurious properties.

View from the Burj Khalifa

Another interesting aspect about Dubai is the love for shopping malls, as girls, we all feel attracted to them, sometimes you just can't say no to a peek into one of the high-end boutiques or the newest Zara collection. Well, dear ladies, beware, the mall is not just shopping in the UAE, it is a place to hang out, do sports and well, in the case of the Mall of the Emirates, go skiing if that is something you are looking for. My personal favorite, however, is still the Dubai Mall, located right next to the World's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. The up-close view of the fountain interplay is just magical and from the terrace of L'eto, you can enjoy a delicious meal while recording the water play! The mall also houses the aquarium, of which parts are also visible without having to pay the large entrance price. For those of you who are, like me, book worms, I recommend a detour to the Book Store Kinokuniya, located near the entrance from the metro.

Found Darth Vader in the Mall

The water play changes and is specifically designed to fit the songs it accompanies

The other note-worthy destination on your list should be the Dubai Marina. Surrounded by skyscrapers, this dock is not just a center for yachts and millionaires, it is also ideal for strolls, sports activities, and dinner dates. For those of you who prefer more of a sea view, Jumeirah is the location to be, with numerous lounge and sunbathing spots, it is the dream come true of every traveler yearning for a beautiful seaside destination.

Korean style and beauty... Agita's favorites

It is the culture, the tradition, and not to forget the style clashes that make a journey unforgettable for someone. Visiting Korea (although I was/am still a true Japan fan at heart) has opened a new self-care phase for me. As I was wandering the streets, breathing in the air and enjoying their traditional food options, I also took some time to reflect and collect valuable life and beauty lessons along the way.

If you have also thought of Korea as only a tech-savvy country (Hi Samsung, you know I loved your stores!), you should maybe start rethinking it right now. After all, it is a fashion enthusiast and beauty haven. Their brands range from chic street style to modern minimalism, offer options for the modern ladies and the provocative babes. The make up is smudge-proof, while the skin care for before and after almost eliminates the need for the first. Their approach to self-care and eye for detail inspired me to take better care of myself and invest more time into pamper nights, even brought out new routines. So before I get lost in translation and can't stop the praise, let me share a few of the key style and product pieces I picked up for myself, who knows maybe you will appreciate them too...

1.  Face masks...

I hope I am not the only one who found sheet face masks kinda creepy!? During my little shopping trips in Seoul I have discovered their popularity, and after trying them it has only further confirmed it. Whether it is the multivitamin one (my favorite), manuka honey or tea tree, you cannot go wrong. They nourish, leave the skin glowing or help with excess sebum. There are so many brands to choose from, Klavuu and Innisfree being my favorite ones for now! If you are like me, you often forget to take proper care, leave your make up on or just study deep into the night, depriving yourself from the needed rest. My solution to this is a bonus combo, try taking a skin break from studying, those masks refresh you in just 15-20 minutes, the same time amount your brain needs to relax and be fully focused on studying again!

2. Cushion foundations...

Remember watching those classic movies, do ladies with their little powder cushions ring a bell for you? Well, they are back in trend and not just that, the cushion carries your foundation this time... It comes with a mirror and even refills are included in most cases. They are easy to blend, offer different levels of coverage and can easily be stored in your bag (simply put, you won't need to carry potion-like bottles with yourself anymore). The brands I would personally recommend you would definitely be Sulwhasoo and Missha! There are pricier and more affordable options to choose from, the easiest way to buy these brands is through sites like SokoGlam or Peach&Lily (they do offer amazing discounts after all, not to forget brands that you might thaught were out of your reach!)

3. Lip tints are the secret...

We all have those people around us, whether co-workers, fellow students or even neighbors. They take forever to get ready, sometimes comment on your lack of make up and never satisfy with just doing the basics. Time to listen up and re-evaluate your choices, because often what it just needs is nourished lips! Lip balms, tints, liquid rouges and many more options have caught my eye. Choosing the right color can make it or break it! Instead of opting for perfect lining and complete coverage try just doing a subtle touch up by dabbing the color from center outwards on your lips...

Brands: Aura, Collistar, Labello, Rimmel London, Chanel, Clinique

4. Hello sneakers...

Skirts, jeans, trousers, elegant, work-wear, what not and all of it with sneakers? You're thinking now, did you hit your head Agita? I didn't, in the right color, chunky or subtle, you can make that bold combination work. The trend could be seen often throughout the city, eventually resulting in my purchase of a very special pair of sneakers, the Nike dad shoes...

5. Tailored jackets...

On a daily basis I opt for jeans and a T-Shirt, especially since I spend most of my days at university studying and sitting at lectures for hours... During my stay I have cracked the code, finally, I figured out how they elevate their day wear and it involves one simple thing, a tailored blazer/jacket. There were many resembling the all so familiar teacher blazers from those 90's cult movies we adore. I chose this one from Naning9, it was on sale, with a price tag of $20 a real bargain, and so far has really proved its quality and warmth level!

Thank you so much for reading the blog post! I hope you have had a wonderful past month and I am looking forward to the next few posts I still have to share with you guys! Lots of love!

As you know so far I keep an close eye on my school work, but an even closer one on fashion! Since Paris Fashion Week has started with a bang I thought it was about time to honor one of the houses that made me, the tomboy discover that it is okay to dress like a modern day classic beauty... Thank You very much for that Dior

Showcasing strong, yet subtle messages across your wardrobe (we should be a strong sisterhood),Dior married classic cuts with modernity and proved us once again that a T-Shirt with the right accessories can make you go from plain-Jane to style heroine in a second. Not only am I craving those over sized belts, the jumpsuit that resembles the ones used in commando squads has done the rest... Like at Max Mara, the Vinyl trend made its way also in here and honestly, the more the merrier, keep them coming dear designers! (dying for the coats in picture 2)

What's your highlight? I ranted long enough and just want to wish you a joyful Thursday, mine is all about the afternoon, with lessons and a bit of free time for long walks!

Max Mara at Uni?

When studying in Italy you are used to seeing crowded streets, people with gelatos in their hands going to class, not to mention the amount of mad max bicycle riders, but what you wouldn't really expect is to, on a regular Thursday while on the way to a study session, witness Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk and Kaia Gerber strutting down the Max Mara show in your university building...(of course all the influencers and Paparazzi were there too..)

Me and my friend were curious, excited to see what the new season hold and had the top spots next to the big glass structure that covers the show space. Sitting on the name of Max Mara (literally as you shall see in the pictures following it), guests were slowly arriving and finding their assigned seating...

The coats, the cuts, the bags and not to forget the vinyl over-knee boots will for sure become our best friends during the season. Next to the signature nude tones we know Max Mara best for, pinches of color made their way into the collection and left a lasting impression on me. (apparently it will be good embracing your favorite shades and weirdness, so why not accept it subito? Hey, after all, Max Mara approved it)

I managed to take a few good shots, so, what do you think, do they do the clothes justice?

Discovering Asia pt. 3

Since I've already made you play the guessing game with me, I thought it was time to just enjoy some of the pictures that for some reason I still haven't shared with you. It's time to let you a bit more into my travel diary, the private one I mean... This post doesn't have a specific purpose, just a tiny catching up and more details on what I did and saw...

After approximately 8 hours of travel... But Finnair was a really amazing airline, many snacks, and beverages included, the dinner and breakfast, were really good, although it was my first time eating Korean-style food, I didn't have the fear, it looked delicious and tasted even better!

Exploring on my own, on the way to the 10 Corso Como!

Got cold, bought a jacket, put on the jacket, found 10 Corso Como, who doesn't like a bit of Milan abroad? In case you have not experienced it yet, I have linked their website, so that you can know what I am so excited about!
Jacket by Naning9

Most likely the best picture of the whole trip! 11 am, when I understood that no shop was opened, cafes were the only thing working, I turned to photography to kill time!

Hotel for the second time... Again in Mapo. It does not break the budget and it is conveniently placed right above a metro station, so instead of going out, waiting for the red light to cross and facing the cold weather at that time, just take the elevator down!

Particularly cold, but trying to stay cool (the puns just flow out of me, no way of stopping them). I kept myself warm in my favorite purchase, my Millstudio sweater.

Most likely the biggest Samsung store I will ever see again...
Insider tip: In the area of Gangnam (where this picture was also take at) there is not just a Dior store, there is also the accompanying CAFE to go with it. Now, if you are me you find out about this three days after you have already returned, but just because I was blind doesn't mean I cannot save you from the same faith.

Got my nails done at the number one destination of K-Pop stars, Nailtam2na, although a bit more expensive, is worth it, you were able to see these nails intact and going strong for the next 4 weeks after that on my Instagram maybe, they did not even chip in the end, you could just peel it easily off your nail without damaging it. Check their Instagram page out right here and see for yourself!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day my dear readers, as I know that not all of us celebrate actively, I decided to fulfill your day after it with important messages to keep in mind! Although relationships can bring a lot of joy to our lives, enhance them and inspire us to do better, the one that is always there, never leaves us, you can't even break off, is the one you have with yourself.

You remember the exam results I was waiting for, well, they came and one went well while the other posed a striking question to me: How do I turn it into a success?

The combination of fury, fear and uncertainty brought about something useful in the end, I finally understood that in order for success to come to your lane, you have to let go of fear and invest into listening, appreciating and valuing yourself. I decided to not be bothered, decided to just do more, be more and face challenges with an open mind now. For sure, it will take a bit of time, but it will all fall into place.

As for my Valentine's, it was spent with my Valentine and it made me really happy....

That is why I have gathered some of my favorite mantras (of course the nicely drawn editions of them since mine would have been awful) and am sharing them with you, maybe it looks ridiculous at first, but in the end, even in the most stubborn heads, something gets stuck...
