The Italian Life

A month....not a long period of time, but yet it seems this city knows how to capture your heart and provoke your interest and inspiration to bloom. While writing and sipping my signature drink of choice, I have also managed to master the dark arts of investing time into quality learning, even tho the chaotic and creative Week of Fashion caused an overflow of sexy, well-dressed, put together, design enthusiastic individuals in the city center (oh boy, as you can imagine YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THEM and admire the clothes and bold choices).

It must be a challenge, mustn't it? The separation from family and friends is hard? You must be struggling dear?

- Actually never felt better, dear.

Apparently the three most popular questions asked I can not seem to answer any different than this. And , yes maybe it can be hard, but having the support always in your heart, being aware of your goals, dreams and aspirations is worth the risk and new found independence can only help, instead of slowing you down.

So, what has changed (except from my surrounding and eating habits #pastaallaround): The mindset. Apparently all Italians are relaxed compared to Serbians... and I mean really, really relaxed. Their main mantra obviously being: I don't give a sh*t . (dear Serbs, please start using this mantra immediately. WARNING: May cause positive effects on mood and sleep)

What have I learned so far?

I  Dress the way you feel comfortable, but keep your uniqueness in the process.
Wider pants, high-waisted jeans, plaid shirts and over-sized sweaters #ladolcevita seemingly doesn't always require the the tighter the better principle as well as the shorter the better principle (common for areas like my home country).

II Be busy. Italians are always doing something, yet still having time for everything...
Sometimes in order to show your full potential you have to leave the comfortable bubble of familiar and step into unfamiliar terrain.. Sign up for drawing courses, associations (which also looks good on your CV in the future) and spend time researching events and opportunities that involve things you like and are passionate about.
Secret incoming: Even when in a rush, order an espresso, a cornetto and enjoy it while casually standing and leaning on the bar.

III Be sporty! As many of you already know I am very passionate about running and was therefore sad when I couldn't run anymore for a certain period of time. Here, one can find plenty of motivation, and I have found my personal one too..
Everyone runs, and those who don't, welp, they prefer their bicycles obviously.
What motivates me: realizing that sometimes tho people pretend my opinion and interests don't have a value and as a result interrupt me, that exactly those interests and stories leave a mark on them, so why don't I try to top that and become a even better version of myself. (and yes, also confidence is benefiting from Italy)

So, how to end this random session of confessions, honest thoughts and inspirational attempts, I guess it is best done through pictures, enjoy your evening lovelies... And prepare, cuz this is just the beginning of a good story....

XO

Aleks

TRENDING:FENDI X ROMA

    via Vogue
    via Elle Magazine
via Elle Magazine Fairy tales, princesses and Prince Charming on the white horse, haven't we all dreamed about that while growing up?
Last week Fendi showed us how their dream princess looks like and granted us a glimpse into their fairy tale world of cuts, designs, beads and pearls.
At Fontana di Trevi, while walking down a glass runway over the water, our favorite models of the moment (not to forget social stars) made the show one of the most memorable of all times.
Now it's up to you to scroll down, enjoy the tale, perhaps even make up your own personal one...

The Travel Apps

    Made with Canva

Summer is here! Sunshine, the beach, tiny bikinis, just to name a few characteristics in case that you forgot the meaning of this season. Where to eat, where to sleep, what to book and visit are our main questions these days, but do NOT, I repeat, do NOT start panicking because you think you'll forget something. We all still possess our smartphones after all...
In the era of internet domination it is hard not to start using its perks even for planning your vacation. Travel apps, more than a thousand different ones exist, however, only a few noteworthy for you. So, the question as to how to know which ones are HOT from those that are NOT is re-occurring. We've reached the part where I gladly volunteer

Here are my favorite Apps for planning, exploring and discovering different cultures, countries and cities:
GOBY

Have you ever visited a country and thought to yourself, why is it so quiet and where are all the peeps? Oh, well, Goby has the answer to that question. It pinpoints all the hot spots throughout the city, especially marking the ones nearest to you (including museums, theaters and cultural events ^^)

GAS BUDDY

We all know the stress level when the gas tank is empty, so save yourself some time (and money) with this app. By locating the most convenient nearby gas stops, this is your best choice when it comes to road partners.

 HOTEL TONIGHT

An App specially made to find you a hotel ASAP. It works together with smaller hotels in metropolitan areas and shows the smallest price you can get. (but being relatively new, the hotel options are not that large)

                                      Via Pinterest
TIME OUT

This app offers you a brief overview of the city you are in with all its restaurants, bars, cafes and events and their locations, a sure must have, especially since it includes reviews of previous visitors and rating that pretty accurate.

 LIVE TREKKER

Though not really necessary, this app can be used to preserve all of your best memories. While it tracks your pace and marks your route with a red line on the map, you can go ahead and take pictures, add videos and produce your own personal travel diary in a very professional in the making way.

FREE WI-FI FINDER

The struggle gets real when the digital generation has to get going without Internet for a while... But thanks Lord for this invention, it shows you all the available free Internet access points and how far away they are from you. So, ladies and gentleman, you are taken care of.

BRING FIDO

Have a dog? I do too. Now, hotels most of the time don't accept pets. But worry no more, Bring Fido knows the once that do. The app is specifically designed for dog owners in order to plan a pet-friendly holiday with man's best friend.

PACKPOINT

NOW, I think you feel me when I say that most of the time I forget to pack things that I actually need. That is why I use Packpoint. It gives you a clear overview of the things you listed that need to be packed, and once you pack 'em, just tick 'em off of the list!

Song Of The Day

Oh Roberto, Roberto

Shoes...every girls dream and nightmare in the same time.  Leather, latex, wooden heels, everything is possible nowadays (even seen people in Louis XVI heels). The only thing that matters to me, they gotta be Made In Italy. Don't we all love la dolce vita, the Italian swag and style, fresh smell of polished leather shoes, ahhh, starting to tear up right now XD.

That is why I was especially excited when discovering a new, fresh face in the designer scene. Roberto Fest, may I add, a Milano company, not only makes shoes, but they are comfortable too. Modern, futuristic and golden (#punintended).

This pair carried me through the whole night of my prom (a #prom post coming up soon) and made me shine on one of the biggest nights and milestones in the process called growing up (and boy it's a long one)

All the other fabulous shoes can be found on robertofesta.com or the company's instagram page @robertofestamilano (p.s. there is even a see-through heel available).

P.S. For us Serbian girls, you can easily buy them in Kralja Petra street in the boutique Graffiti, they both have the main shoe line as well as the the other two ones of Roberto Festa.

Housing Around...

                   Made with Canva
We are all full of ideas, creative and all sorts of innovative, yet we never know how to style our personal four walls...
Is it that hard? It seems as if we are afraid of colors, personal elements and especially prints (bohoooo). Freaked out by the idea that we need a lot of money in order to make it chic, cozy and extra home sweet home.
Lies people, all lies, with the right tricks and measures you can achieve the perfect put together look for your house, condo or rental. Where do I find those tricks you may ask, welp, scroll down and find out...

1) PRINTS

                          via Pinterest

               via Pinterest

With the right wallpaper every room can go from zero to hero. Complement the colors and remember keep the furniture neutral and in the tones of the wallpaper ;)

My Tip: Put a wallpaper only on one of the walls and keep the others white, this way you will maximize it's effect and even enhance the size of the room

2) PLANTS

          via Pinterest
Dear people, don't be afraid to put plants in your homes, even in small spaces they will add even more oxygen and give the space a more natural vibe, which we all want.

My Tip: For my fellow small spaces/corner lovers I recommend making a flower corner (like in the pictures show below)

3) MIRRORS

In order to open up the space and gain the sense that it is even bigger, strategically place mirrors throughout the space. Small, big or mosaic ones, which ever kind suits your style. It will both look stylish and luxurious.

My Tip: Additionally, place mirror details, trays  or sculptures

4) WALL ART

Empty walls... my worst nightmare and enemy.
Aren't they ugly, starring at you. Instead of I've got a blank space baby, and I'll write your name, just fill it in with wall art. Small, medium and large pictures look best when combines into a huge unit. Try mixing and matching them in order to achieve the perfect style.

My Tip: You on't always have to invest in expensive art pieces, instead use your books or record collection to add a personal touch.
